ESA is a multidisciplinary training and research centre, where the fields of expertise range from agricultural production to the development of the living environment. Established in 1898, ESA is located in the West of France, the leading agricultural and agri-food region of France. Since its very beginnings, ESA has sought to be open to all students, adults and companies. The school undertakes applied research in the various agricultural and agri-food sectors and trains professionals responsive to contemporary issues.

In the area of education and training, ESA offers all levels of education from the undergraduate level to doctoral studies. Several modes of teaching are offered in order to make them available to young people and adults from different backgrounds: full-time, work-study (apprenticeship agreements and professional training contracts), distance learning and validation of professional experience.

Each year, 2,500 students choose to study at ESA and thereby make it one of the leading agricultural higher educational groups in France.

The viticulture and oenology department proposes three degrees, a professional bachelor's degree in Marketing and International Trade of Terroir wines, a master's degree in Vine, Wine and Terroir Management and an engineering degree in Vine and Wine. These formations integrate the overall objective of the department to provide students with a comprehensive approach to the wine sector, from soil to consumer.
